Iraqi resistance… Netanyahu and Trump’s trap in the Iran conflict.

Would Iraqi fighters alter the situation by joining the Axis of Resistance and forming a united front?

Is it a coincidence that US President Donald Trump approved missile and drone strikes against Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Forces targets just hours after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the accompanying military and intelligence entourage at the White House?

President Trump, when he instructs his military leadership to carry out this attack in the heart of a major regional country like Iraq with missiles and drones, threatens escalation, and uses vulgar language unbefitting anyone but street children—language that the “Fox” channel, which conducted the interview with him, refrained from broadcasting—falls unknowingly into a trap set by Iran with meticulous care, the main theme of which is to expand the scope of this war.

It is especially ironic that this American military violation of Iraqi sovereignty occurred just days after the new Iraqi Prime Minister, Ali Al-Zaydi, visited Washington and met with the American president in the White House. The conference produced multiple understandings and agreements between the two parties on all fronts.

President Trump is flailing, and his aggression toward Iraq is effectively blocking diplomatic efforts to resolve the problem with Iran.

Dragging Iraq into war is the best present Trump could give his Iranian adversaries. Iraq is a key regional power, and the vast majority of its people will never forget the American starvation siege, which lasted more than 12 years and culminated in aggression and occupation, killing nearly two million of its residents.

If the conflict begins, the American military bases in Iraq and the personnel stationed there will become a key target for Iraqi resistance groupings and their men, which could number in the hundreds of thousands.

President Trump, who is illiterate and unskilled in the sciences of history and geography, is unaware that Iraq is the “purse” of the Middle East and has a civilisational heritage dating back to that date. Baghdad served as the capital of one of history’s largest and most enduring empires, the Abbasid Islamic Empire. Iraq has borders with Iran, Turkey, Syria, Kuwait, and Jordan.

If the Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Forces enter the battle and join Iran’s Resistance Axis, along with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Ansar Allah in Yemen, under the banner of the Doctrine of Unity of the Fronts, American bases will quickly be out of place. The American leadership, particularly President Trump, will long for the Vietnam War, and America’s defeat in Afghanistan may appear to be a picnic. It is worth recalling the humiliating American defeat at the hands of Iraqi resistance heroes, as well as their deadly and courageous operations against American occupation forces, which prompted President Barack Obama to drink from the cup of defeat and decide to withdraw 160,000 troops from Iraq immediately (November 2011), in order to stop the bloodshed among his forces.

If Trump follows through on his threats and enlists his men in a war against Iraq, the ensuing days will be challenging, violent, and costly politically, financially, and humanly. We do not rule out the possibility that one of the Popular Mobilisation Forces’ (PMF) major future intentions will be to target the Israeli enemy with missiles and drones, as well as to storm the Jordanian borders with hundreds of thousands of warriors before reaching the occupied Palestinian boundaries. This is not too tough for the Iraqi fighters, who have earned a reputation for their fierce and fearless battle abilities.
