While an intense financial blockade attempts to strangle Cuba, the island nation has still performed vaccine research for over three decades — and has produced seven COVID-19 vaccines in the last year. Cuba has few resources but has tested and approved three Covid vaccines for use on people two years old and older, and is on track to vaccinate more than 93% of residents by mid-November.
Manolo De Los Santos, Co-Director of The People’s Forum & researcher with the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research, describes his recent visit to Cuba and what he saw.
