▪️At least 1 F-15 was shot down and only one of its 2 crew members rescued;
▪️During the rescue attempt, an A-10 warplane was downed, the pilot ejected/rescued;
▪️A Blackhawk helicopter was also fired on, damaging the aircraft and injuring the crew;
▪️While this in and of itself will not “win” the war for Iran and is tactical rather than strategic, it does call into question US claims of “air superiority” which the US clearly does not have and even claims of localized air superiority which appears to be subject to Iranian air defense ambushes;
▪️The real question is how widespread is this and what impact will it have on US air operations overall, one of the major US advantages amid the war;
▪️If the US scales back air operations directly over Iran or continues losing warplanes and helicopters, this signifies significant Iranian air defenses remain & a major problem for US aggression;
