US isn’t Retreating From West Asia, Just Reorganizing and Digging in Deeper

▪️WSJ reports US is considering moving assets further west out of range of Iranian missiles, hardening, and even possibly building military facilities underground;

▪️The US is also likely to consolidate facilities in Israel because it is at the western edge of the region and has concentrated air defense capabilities rather than managing bases all over the region;

▪️The US is also likely to use its ACE doctrine of maintaining numerous tiny airstrips, rotating aircraft between them making it harder for Iran to strike vs. a single well known, large location;

▪️ At one point amid the war, the US established an ACE site INSIDE Iran but was targeted/abandoned;

▪️US naval assets also projected air power into Iran with no ability by Iran to target & destroy these assets;

▪️Downside: longer range strikes on Iran by US forces & ACE doctrine makes ops more complex, more expensive, more time consuming than having bases closer to Iran;
