What is the sole advantageous aspect of the Lebanese-Israeli “sedition” agreement?
What is the “dangerous clause” that was eliminated in the first few minutes?
The “orphaned” positive side of the Israeli-Lebanese-American tripartite agreement, in our opinion, is not that it is “dead, rejected, and condemned” but that it may be the last of the “Abraham Accords” between Arab and Israeli administrations. Hezbollah, its leadership, and its popular base deserve praise for rejecting and thwarting it with the strength of weaponry, drones, and missiles, rather than just condemning it.
Israel imposed this deal using force, while the resistance also used force to disrupt it. The first and most visible clause in it, joint Israeli-Lebanese military collaboration to disarm ‘Hezbollah’, was the most powerful triggering element in the first hours after some of its non-secret parts were made public. Those who prepared and signed this pact are unaware of Lebanon’s ancient and modern history, as well as the Lebanese resistance represented by “Hezbollah”, its leaders, formidable military brains, and historical battlefield successes. This is the resistance that defeated the Israeli army, which had never been defeated by an Arab force before, and liberated every inch of the occupied Lebanese territories in 2000 without engaging in any direct or indirect negotiations.
The most frightening clause in this deal, which reflects and supports what we already stated, links Israel’s disengagement from Lebanese regions to resistance disarmament. This means that the Israeli occupation will continue indefinitely and be legitimised, as the resistance will never be disarmed. Finally, the authority and its linked militias will be disarmed, as was the case following Israel’s two losses in Lebanon in the Lebanon War of 2000 and July 2006.
Mr Nabih Berri, known as the “Wise Man” of Lebanon, particularly the Shiite community, and the dean of Lebanese diplomacy, issued a death sentence on this agreement in his first reaction in a statement to the colleague newspaper “Al-Akhbar”, saying, “It is a project of sedition, and it will not pass or be implemented because it does not preserve Lebanon’s rights, and it will ignite the fuse of civil war.”
This agreement will fragment Lebanon, put an end to shared Lebanese coexistence, and endanger the identity of half of the Lebanese people, if not more, by marginalising and besieging a fundamental, founding, and original Lebanese component with Arab and Islamic roots that extend deep into the Lebanese land.
What distinguishes Lebanon from other countries that fell into Netanyahu’s trap and the “Abraham Accords” is that it is not an emergent state with an age of just a few decades, but rather a state with deep-rooted existence in the region, with a history and civilisation spanning many times that of the American colonial state that imposed this agreement via threats, starvation, and extermination (250 years), and the Israeli occupation state, which has not yet reached,
The fact that the deal was signed by a “hybrid Lebanese authority” that lacks legitimacy does not guarantee its success or implementation. It may be worth remembering that the “May 17 Agreement”, signed by a more powerful authority amid tremendous celebrations, lasted only a few days. We would rather not rekindle past wounds or recall what happened to its creators and signatories.
In conclusion, we say that if this agreement, as its “legitimate” proponents in Israel and America, as well as some misled Lebanese circles, claim, aims to separate the Lebanese path from the Iranian and Hezbollah paths, we inform you in advance that their plan has failed and was aborted before its “baby teeth” could develop. It has produced radically opposite outcomes, enhancing the unity and acceptance of the two approaches. Perhaps the banners of appreciation to Iran and its new Supreme Leader, Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei, that were raised on the road to Beirut Airport are the most visible indication of what we say.
We hope that people misled by the defeated American power in Iran, Afghanistan, and Iraq, as well as the humiliated and shamed Israeli power in southern Lebanon, will rush to elementary school classes to learn A.B. The history of their country, Lebanon, and the area to bring them back to their senses, out of compassion for them, and to awaken them from their slumber, in the hope of bringing them back on track.
