What Western Sahara and Palestine Have in Common

Last week, Israel issued an apology to Morocco after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video brandishing a map that excluded Morocco’s claim over Western Sahara. Despite this, Israel is among the few countries that recognize Morocco’s control over Western Sahara, often referred to as “Africa’s last colony.”

Mahjoub Maliha of the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) joins Rania Khalek and Eugene Puryear to discuss Morocco’s grave human rights abuses against the Sahrawi people and the decades-long movement for the liberation of Western Sahara.

“The human rights situation in occupied Western Sahara is very severe. The Moroccan occupation forces have the mandate to crack down on any voice who dares to object to the Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara” –@ElwaliWS w/ @CODESA_SO
