Kambale Musavuli of the Center for Research on the Congo discusses a potential deal between the US and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where the US would gain exclusive access to the DRC’s critical minerals in exchange for military support against Rwanda- and Uganda-backed M23 rebels.
Musavuli warns that the US and Congolese elite are framing the US as “firefighters” coming to save the day, when in reality, they are “the arsonists” fueling the crisis, with the Congolese government “willing to literally give away the future of the Congo to the United States.”
US engagement in the war raging in the DRC is not as “firefighters,” @kambale . “They are the arsonists”
