South African Observer to Donbass Referenda: We Won’t Let West Dictate What Is Democracy

The Youth League of the African National Congress (ANCYL), South Africa’s ruling party, sent a delegation to observe the referenda in four regions of the Donbass last month, which voted in favor of leaving Ukraine and joining Russia.

Among the delegation was Chairperson of ANCYL International Relations & Solidarity Khulekani Skosana, who discusses what he saw and the nuanced position that South Africa has taken on the war in Ukraine.
