The War Continues to Widen

Ukraine’s government says it will not hesitate to strike Russian territory with the new long range weapons Washington has provided.  “If needed the government will act without hesitation.”  As the idiot British government did with the “Polish Guarantee,” the idiots in Washington have given a Nazi government in Ukraine power to put us into direct military conflict with Russia.

How can this possibly have happened?  The answer is that no one takes Russia seriously.  Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that the Kremlin might strike the Ukrainian leadership should Russia be attacked, but no one believes him.  It is taking Russia so long to drive Ukrainian forces out of Donbass that no one believes the Russian military is capable.  Strategically, it has been mindless for the Kremlin to take no action against the Ukrainian leadership, leaving Kiev and the enemy’s communications and non-military infrastructure intact and untouched.  By protecting the Ukraine leadership, the Kremlin enables the destruction of its own troops just as the Kremlin does by continuing to supply its European enemies with energy so they can make the weapons to send to Ukraine.

That the Kremlin thought it could conduct a limited operation in Donbass demonstrates that when it comes to war, the Kremlin is out to lunch.  How could anyone in Russia possibly have thought that Washington would let them limit the war?

It is extraordinary how long it has taken Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov to realize that the West’s persistence in pumping up Ukraine’s military capability might–only might–require Russia to reconsider whether it must move beyond its limited Donbass operation.

Russia needs quickly, as soon as possible, to get this non-limited war over before it blows out of control and Armageddon is upon us.

I’ve never seen any but my own comments on this very good website. As far as Roberts’s column is concerned, I think the Russians have plans for a broader conflict, and fully anticipate the West’s desire to engage Russia in an all-out war. The Russians are prepared for this.
