US Fingerprints on Serbia’s “Student List” & Why it Doesn’t Make Vucic Automatically the “Good Guy”
- US government funding is behind groups directly involved in Serbia’s “Student List” movement through media, legal aid, “human rights” cases, and even providing physical spaces for press conferences;
- The previous Serbian government also cooperated with US-funded organizations like USAID and corporate-funded foundations like Open Society while simultaneously being accused of obstructing their work inside Serbia;
- This leaves 2 possibilities. 1). the previous Vucic government was pragmatically avoiding a direct confrontation with the US by cooperating with US organizations while quietly trying to uproot it and “Student List” will now ensure unobstructed access for US interference in the future, or 2). both the Vucic government and “Student List” are compromised leaving Serbians no real choice just like the rest of the collective West under US primacy;
- Movements, parties, and politicians must be judged on the money and associations they depend on, not political promises they make to the public;
- If the public is incapable of following money and associations instead of campaign slogans, they are not capable of informed political participation and are themselves being used as tools of political capture and control;
