Why was the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire announced soon before Iran’s aggression?
What motivated the Palestinian “technocrat committee” to manage the sector? Why do we reject the “Trump Emirate” in Gaza?
It was no coincidence that Steve Witkoff, the envoy of US President Donald Trump, hurriedly announced on Wednesday evening the start of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, implementing his president’s twenty-point plan, just days before giving the green light for American bombers to launch from Arab bases to strike Iran under the pretext of saving the Iranian people from death at the hands of the regime’s security forces and using it as a cover.
The message is obvious in both words and meanings: we, as the American authority, are trying to preserve the lives of the sector’s workers and enhance their living conditions. We are announcing the formation of a Palestinian technocrat committee that will be responsible for the daily and living management of the sector’s residents as a preliminary step towards clearing the rubble and then beginning the rehabilitation phase. Therefore, don’t ask us why you don’t stand in the trenches defending Gaza, safeguarding and improving their conditions, as you profess to do in Iran.
The following points summarise the undisclosed intentions of this American movement in Gaza, to which Israel has agreed:
- First, the plan involves completely and officially separating the Gaza Strip from the West Bank and the occupied Palestinian homeland of 1948, transforming it into a “Trumpian emirate” called the “Riviera of the Middle East” for the retirement of the American president and his associates, including his son-in-law Kushner, the husbands of his other daughters, and a group of real estate brokers led by his envoy, Weitkov.
- Second, the formation of this Palestinian technocrat committee by “independent” figures distant from the Palestinian factions, primarily the “Palestinian Authority” and “Hamas,” reminds us of the Oslo Accords and their shiny promises, which mean the complete erasure of the Palestinian state, limiting it to the powers and tasks of a municipal council as the highest ceiling, with a focus on managing municipal affairs while the occupation continues.
- Third, the formation of the current technocrat committee, which will be subordinate to the “Peace Council” led personally by President Trump and whose members he will select, signals the failure of the Palestinian Authority, the end of its lifespan, and confirmation of its inability to govern any part of Palestine. Today, it officially withdraws from the Gaza Strip and tomorrow from the West Bank, with the Knesset decision ready for implementation.
- Fourth: Justifying all Israeli actions to disarm the resistance (Hamas and Jihad), bringing in international forces to carry out the work, and announcing the complete end of their function, as is currently happening in Lebanon. This is not surprising because the same teacher, Yitzhak, is involved, indicating that this technocratic committee will be entirely administrative, with no connection to security or politics. Dr Shaath, the American-appointed head, stated verbatim in his first press interview (Radio Basma in Ramallah): “Our priority is to secure housing and decent living conditions for the people of the sector in parallel with starting the rehabilitation of the sector’s infrastructure and then reconstruction.”
The Hamas leadership’s backing for this American initiative, as well as its willingness to collaborate with it, is a “tactical” decision. This decision aligns with Israel’s strategy of buying time, establishing a calm period to regroup, and reorganising the internal situation. The action is a prudent and foresightful step.
We distrust the United States’ pledges and involvement in the entire Islamic world, including the Middle East, leading to numerous reservations about this American move. The United States, which has destroyed Iraq, Libya, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen, is now planning to destroy Iran, the last bastion of resistance, on the guise of democracy, human rights, and liberties. More dangerously, it supports and backs the war of famine and extermination in the Gaza Strip, which has claimed approximately 100,000 lives (including bodies still under rubble) and injured over 200,000.
We, at this newspaper, endorse any action that will ease the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, which is the result of Israeli-American construction. However, we must be wary of an impending joint American-Israeli treachery aimed at breaking Israel’s international isolation, reducing the global wave of hatred towards Israel and the Zionist movement, cleaning up their image, and erasing the series of Nazi-style bloodbaths over the last two years.
In short, Gaza does not need “managing suffering” with Palestinian hands but rather wants to entirely stop it, eradicate it, preserve its Palestinian Arab Islamic character, and remain at the core of the greater Palestinian national framework.
The occupying state will not commit to implementing the second phase of Trump’s agreement. It will work to obstruct it, as it has done with all ceasefire agreements and their phases over the last two years, in coordination with the American government and with the help of some Arab mediators. The first reason is that “Hamas” must be disarmed by Americans and Arabs, or it will carry out the mission itself. The second reason is that there will be no deal and no withdrawal, except for the retrieval of “the nail of Juha,” which refers to the body of the hostage Ron Arad that Hamas is still searching for beneath the wreckage of the fallen Israeli skyscrapers.Israeli.
Israel, with American assistance and armaments, has failed to eliminate “Hezbollah” in Lebanon, disarm it, eradicate the Yemeni “Ansar Allah” movement, and stop its hypersonic missiles that have targeted Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Eilat, and Haifa. Israel has conducted three aggressive actions against Iran with American participation and is planning a fourth; this upcoming attempt will certainly fail and result in a much higher cost.
The “Hamas” and “Islamic Jihad” movements lack “Tomahawk” missiles, stealth planes (F-35), tanks, and armoured vehicles, but they do have something far more important: willpower, commitment, and trust in triumph. That is why, after two years of consistency, they have not been beaten or waved the white flag. They will remain in the sector, expand in the West Bank, the occupied 1948 area, and Trump’s emirate and “Riviera” that he dreams of will go to “hell”. And the greatest has yet to come… The days are passing us by.
