This is an act of desperation but also futility as the US makes only 500-550 missiles a year while Russia fires over 4,000 missiles at targets across Ukraine in the same period;
All talk about Russia’s arms industry suffering from delayed orders owed to the SMO now clearly applies to the US and its arms shipments to Ukraine;
Such a desperate move demonstrates how effective Russia’s strategy of attrition has been, including in the realm of air defense capabilites;
Patriot systems are also scarce, with additional systems being pledged at least partially to cover losses of previously pledged equipment;
As Ukrainian air defenses deteriorate, Russian missile strikes will have a growing effect, allowing Russia to hit a larger number of targets per salvo as the need to saturate air defenses diminishes;
