Will the Saudi-Turkish-Pakistani “NATO” counter the US military retreat from the “Middle East”?

What is the alarming acknowledgement of “failure” in an article written by one of President Biden’s top advisors? And will Trump be able to get out of his big escape from the bleeding Iranian quagmire?

In an essay published in the global American magazine “Foreign Affairs”, Michael Fox, a senior counsellor in Joe Biden’s former administration, posed a crucial question: “Is it time for America to withdraw from the Middle East?” He said “yes” since the American approach in the region had failed, and he saw the war with Iran as a “major strategic disaster”.

This post reminds us of a major European strategic error, the disastrous tripartite aggression against Egypt in 1956. The common denominator among all aggressors against Iran, whether tripartite or American, is Israeli agitation, hubris, and a misreading of the adversary’s strength and international dynamics. Consequently, the outcomes were devastating. The Suez War, also known as the tripartite aggression, marked the beginning of the fall of the British and French colonial empires, clearing the way for the growth of the American alternative, which supplanted them and grabbed the world’s throne.

We are well aware that many of Iran’s regional rivals, whether for sectarian or ethnic reasons, do not want us to use phrases such as “defeat for the United States” and “victory for Iran”. However, when someone like strategic advisor Michael Fox corroborates these concepts, the critical reactions vary due to the prevalent “foreign complex.”

The American-Israeli aggression against Iran has revealed the failure of the American strategy in the “Middle East”, which is based on the use of force, air superiority, and spending hundreds of billions of dollars to build nearly 50 American military bases in the region, primarily in the Arabian Peninsula and the Arabian Gulf. Above all, there was a miscalculation of the adversary’s strength: Iran, the leader of the Resistance Axis and its arms in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, surprised America and its Israeli ally with its high capabilities in developing nuclear and missile capabilities, as well as managing direct or indirect military confrontations in the region’s skies and waters.

Several pieces of evidence support American advisor Fox’s opinion on the failure of the American military presence in the Middle East, which we summarise in the following points:

• First, the defeat of American firepower, particularly air and naval forces, in the face of missiles, drones, Resistance Axis preparations, and military fronts.
• Second, the Iranian regime absorbed the initial American lightning strikes, which lasted nearly 6 months and grew stronger, closing most intelligence gaps and reducing or eliminating the assassination weapon against top-tier military leaders and nuclear energy scientists.
• Third, America’s missile arsenal is depleted, with the American leadership admitting that it has lost 80% of its interceptive missile stockpile and other military munitions, rendering it unable to continue the attrition war that Israel’s leadership, represented by Benjamin Netanyahu, has dragged it into.
• Fourth, American aggression against Iran no longer provides security and stability for its bases in the region or the Israeli colonial state.
