Israel’s Despicable Chance to Wipe Palestine From the Map
If Biden and the Israelis were really concerned about alleviating civilian suffering they would open the crossings in Gaza leading to Israel.
Israeli leaders often accuse Arab and Iranian enemies of desiring to “wipe Israel off the map”. The accusation is meant to designate opponents as harboring evil designs to annihilate the Israeli state with implicit Nazi undertones.
Ironically, the escalation in Israeli-Palestinian violence over the past two weeks appears to be giving the Israeli extremists an opportunity to finally settle the Palestinian Question that has dogged their Zionist dreams for decades.
Benjamin Netanyahu called the Hamas mass killings on October 7 Israel’s “9/11 moment”.
Every day since the Hamas gun and rocket attacks, the Netanyahu regime has bombarded the Gaza Strip with a vengeance that goes way beyond the usual Israeli bloodlust. The widespread indiscriminate air strikes and killing of Palestinian civilians are shocking even by Israeli standards.
The Palestinian death toll, so far, is nearly 3,000 compared with 1,300 Israelis killed by Hamas on October 7. A further 1,000 Palestinians are missing buried under rubble, and nearly 10,000 are injured. The Israeli bombing of civilian convoys trying to flee the violence and the destruction of hospitals will raise the death toll even more in the coming days.
There is absolutely no justification for this slaughter of Palestinian civilians, regardless of the heinous murders committed by Hamas.
The silence from the American and European governments in the face of this daily massacre by the Israeli state is appalling. The West is complicit in aiding and abetting Israel’s war crimes.
Significantly, the horrific bombing is accompanied by a total blockade of the Gaza Strip for basic humanitarian needs of food, water and fuel that make it impossible for Palestinians to remain in the enclave. They are being ordered to move en masse to the southern end of Gaza bordering with Egypt.
The territory of Gaza has only three border crossings. The Erez checkpoint in the north and the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south, both of which enter Israel. These two crossings are closed. The third crossing at Rafah, also in southern Gaza leading to Egypt, is being negotiated as the only route out of the bombing hell that the Israelis are creating in Gaza.
The 9/11 moment that Netanyahu referred to seems like an opportunity for enacting the darkest of plans – a “final solution” to remove Palestinians from the territory once and for all. For the fascists that make up the current regime in Tel Aviv, this is a crucial chance for completing the Zionist project of having a territory rid of any Palestinian national presence. If Gaza is erased then Palestinian statehood will be eliminated.
Just like the United States imperial planners used the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, as a pretext for launching latently desired foreign wars, exerting full-spectrum dominance towards geopolitical adversaries, and invoking sweeping state surveillance powers against their own people, the Israeli state is exploiting the Hamas atrocities on October 7 for a bigger purpose – to unleash pent-up plans for eradicating the Palestinian population in their midst.
For nearly three decades, a historic peace process sponsored by the United States was nothing but a cynical dead-end for Palestinians. The problem was that in all that time there was at least a nominal option of creating a Palestinian state that Washington and Tel Aviv paid lip service to.
Now, however, Israel has a chance to wipe Palestine completely from the map – forever.
What the world is witnessing is another “Nakba” – the catastrophe that Palestinians endured in 1948 when the Israeli state was first formed out of the British colonial Palestine Mandate. Then some 700,000 Palestinians were dispossessed of their lands and made homeless. Many of them ended up as permanent refugees in neighboring countries of Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. To this day, their descendants are forbidden to return to their Palestinian homeland.
In a despicable echo of history, 75 years on, the 2.3 million people in Gaza are now being forced into exodus with bombs raining down on them. Some Palestinians in Gaza fear that this is the ulterior plan and they are refusing to leave because of that, in spite of the bombing terror around them.
The Israelis and the American administration of President Joe Biden are cynically claiming that Palestinian civilians are being ordered to leave Gaza for their own safety. The Americans are backing a ground invasion by Israel expected to come in the next few days. The presence of two U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups in the East Mediterranean appears to be a warning to other regional countries to not intervene militarily in aid of the Palestinians.
Respected investigative journalist Seymour Hersh cites Israeli sources who say that Netanyahu’s war cabinet is planning to obliterate the entire Gaza Strip to erase any Hamas presence. Hersh reports that the Israeli military is preparing to drop U.S.-supplied two-tonne bunker-buster bombs that can explode 50 meters underground.
By extension, part of the nefarious masterplan is to force the mass expulsion of Palestinians into Egypt’s Sinai desert where they will be expected to become domiciled in permanent tent cities similar to what befell the refugees after the 1948 Nakba when they fled to Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
The Biden administration is claiming to be seeking a way to set up humanitarian corridors in Gaza to “minimize civilian casualties”. This is while giving Israel full and unrestrained military support to take whatever revenge action it wants, including the mass murder of civilians.
If Biden and the Israelis were really concerned about alleviating civilian suffering they would open the two other crossings in Gaza leading to Israeli territory. But they are not doing that. Evidently, the only crossing being considered is the one into Egypt. Because that would facilitate the ethnic cleansing that the Netanyahu regime has long coveted.

Do the Israelis think they’re the only people who have suffered racial persecution in their past history…and especially under the Nazis more recently? This does not give them moral permission to racially persecute the Palestinians upon who’s ancestral homeland they occupy with a nation created out of an insensitivity and disregard for the indigenous peoples. Israel and its backers have a moral obligation to halt their genocidal actions and to demand the full participation of all parties involved to create a separate and equal homeland nation for the Palestinians — possibly entirely out of the land which is now occupied and ruled by Israel. That this just and fair solution was not considered at the time of the creation of the Israeli state is unfortunate and reflects upon the racist thinking the participants at the time. The world is paying for this error…but it is still possible to remedy the situation.
