US Prepares to “Recognize” Myanmar’s US-Made “National Unity Government”

The US is attempting to move forward with “officially” recognizing Myanmar’s so-called “National Unity Government,” a parallel government made up of US-backed opposition groups ousted from power by the nation’s military in February 2021.

I explain the background of the NUG’s “Minister of Foreign Affairs” and how artificial the NUG’s legitimacy is. I also explain how the US move to recognize the NUG is similar to Washington’s recognition of Juan Guaido in Venezuela.
