I must have missed Trump announcing the US withdrawal from NATO (as people excitedly believed) among all his promises to continue confronting, coercing, and interfering all around the globe.
This included blaming a proxy war he himself helped prepare for and provoke on Russia, Ukraine and Europe, and omitting the fact the US could actually end it at any time of its choosing. It is choosing not to.
This also included talk of seizing both the Panama Canal and Greenland specifically to cut off maritime trade routes during future conflicts with Russia and China and building a fleet of ships solely for fighting China off Beijing’s own shores.
This was also in between throwing red meat to the MAGA base to distract them from what was otherwise a vow of unconditional continuity of agenda.
This isn’t 5D chess. This is yet another politician who told you one thing during elections and is predictably doing another once in office.

Trump Lays Out Continued US Aggression Abroad During Address to Congress
Trump: “we have an ocean separating us” (regarding the US and the conflict in Ukraine) implying the war with Russia doesn’t impact the US…
Also Trump: “my focus is on building the most powerful military of the future,” and, “we will create a new office of ship building in the White House and offer special tax incentives to bring this industry home to America where it belongs – it will have a huge impact to further enhance our national security.”
In other words: no one threatens us in reality, but we’re still going to build the largest military on Earth including huge numbers of ships to threaten everyone else (as we have been doing).
How exactly does this help reduce costs to free up money to solve problems back at home???
