More Problems for Boeing – NASA Exposes Poor Quality Control and Insufficiently Qualified Workforce at Boeing Rocket Manufacturing Facility

“NASA inspector general gives damning assessment of Boeing’s quality control in new report,” that:
“In NASA’s development of its next-generation megarocket, known as the Space Launch System, it gave Boeing the contract to build the rocket system’s powerful upper stage.
But according to the report, Boeing’s quality control systems fall short of NASA’s requirements, and some known deficiencies have gone unaddressed. What’s more, the workers on the project are not, as a whole, sufficiently experienced or well trained, according to the inspector general.”
This is in addition to Boeing’s troubled airliner production, its manned Starliner spacecraft currently stranded at the International Space Station (ISS) along with 2 astronauts who flew to the ISS in it, and delayed production expansion of Patriot missiles because of a shortage of components.
Boeing’s problems reflect a much wider, systemic atrophy of American industrial capabilities, as noted in the 2023 US National Defense Industrial Strategy released by the DoD. The report outlined a lack of facilities, an inability to expand production, and a shortage of trained manpower, resulting in nations like China and even Russia with half the population and a fraction of America’s GDP, surpassing the US in terms of industrial output.
