Has Iran truly forsaken Hezbollah?

What was the reason for Sayed Khamenei’s hasty response, which involved rectifying President Pezeshkian’s statements?

The military wing of Hezbollah launched a heavy missile, type “Qader 1”, towards the headquarters of the Mossad in the heart of Tel Aviv for the first time, thereby commencing the Tel Aviv versus the Southern suburbs conflict recently discussed by Sayed Hassan Nasrallah. This led to the activation of alarm sirens, which compelled two million Israeli settlers to seek refuge in shelters in a quest for safety.

The launch of the “Qader-1” heavy strategic missile has established yet another precedent by reaching the Israeli political and economic capital, Tel Aviv. This is the practical application of another threat issued by Sayed. Nasrallah, which is to strike Haifa and beyond. It signifies the transition from the initial phase, which involved the launch of “Katyusha” rockets with restricted capabilities, to the subsequent phase, which involved the use of “Fadi-1” and “Fadi-2” missiles. Most significantly, this phase involved the launch of massive and precise ballistic missiles with high destructive capabilities.

Israeli airstrikes employing stealth fighter jets such as the “F-35” or American-made bombers “F-15” and “F-16” will not fulfil Netanyahu’s assurances to re-establish over 150,000 displaced settlers in their settlements, from which they fled in panic due to Lebanese Katyusha rockets. Despite the devastation in the Southern villages and towns of Lebanon, the Bekaa and Hermel regions, as well as the massacre of 560 martyrs and injury of 2000 others, the settlers will remain displaced. The Israeli air bombardment will be met with ground fire from Lebanon, resulting in a fundamental shift in the rules of engagement. This change will be characterised by the lifting of moral protection, which will allow for the killing of Israeli civilians at the appropriate moment. Additionally, strikes on Israeli infrastructure will be prevalent. Furthermore, the Islamic resistance’s war of attrition in occupied Northern Palestine will likely intensify and escalate, potentially extending its reach to the South and West.

As part of the pressures on Hezbollah’s leadership to accept a deal that would lead to a ceasefire, allow the return of displaced persons, and separate the northern front from its counterpart in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army has called up two reserve brigades today in preparation for their involvement in the war in Lebanon and a reinforcement for the imminent ground offensive.

Based on hasty and naïve statements from the new Iranian president, Masoud Bezhakian, the saying that spread like wildfire just days after the outbreak of war in Lebanon claims that Iran has abandoned Hezbollah and the other arms of the Resistance Axis. Iran is involved in all of the Resistance Axis’s conflicts, including those in Gaza, the West Bank, southern Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria. Therefore, this assertion is premature. It is present with its missiles, military arsenal, technological warfare expertise, and specialists. Iran has made substantial political, military, and economic investments in Hezbollah and the other branches of the Resistance Axis in Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq. It is unable to abandon them. The most significant “invention” Iran has made in modern history is the combination of these arms and drones.

It may be advantageous for us to remind those who advocated for this assertion that the Supreme Leader, Sayed. Ali Khamenei, is the individual who has the authority to make the initial and final decision in Iran. Sayed. Bezhkishan’s function is entirely ceremonial and executive, consistent with the roles of all previous presidents. Consequently, the Supreme Leader promptly issued a statement in which he affirmed that the assassination of senior leaders in Hezbollah would not subdue the party and that its organisational strength and human resources are extremely robust and would not be harmed by these assassinations, thus correcting the statements of his president. He concluded his statement by asserting that the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance will ultimately be its ally in achieving victory.

We join Sayed. Nasrallah in asserting that the ground invasion Israel is preparing to conduct in Lebanon will be a significant gift to the Islamic resistance, as represented by Hezbollah. The imminent third ground invasion will not fare any better, as the previous two were met with humiliating defeats (the first in 1982 and the second in 2006). Surrender or the raising of the white flag are not characteristics of the current leaders of the resistance in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria.

Netanyahu, in his current situation, is evading his defeats and failures to achieve any of his objectives in the Gaza Strip. He begins with displacement, progressing to the release of hostages, and concluding with the eradication of resistance factions headed by Hamas by relocating the war to Lebanon. This is the same as an individual seeking refuge from fire in the embers, and as a result, his defeat will be more severe, and his losses more substantial.
