Why is Trump excited about the Saudi-Turkish-Pakistani alliance in Mecca?
Will Erdogan uphold his commitment not to abandon Gaza in the “massacres” of genocide?
We, like many others, were not surprised when President Donald Trump hailed the tripartite Mecca Defence Alliance between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, expressing immense satisfaction and describing it as a “big, bold, and important first step”.
This welcome and gladness occurred because President Trump was assured of the goals that this partnership seeks to achieve.
- First, this alliance was formed to challenge the expanding Iranian regional influence and to effectively and diplomatically counter it with high military efficiency and resilience on the battlefields throughout the past six months of the aggressive war against Iran.
- Second, President Trump is well aware, based on intelligence information, that this trilateral alliance does not currently constitute a direct or indirect threat to the Israeli occupation state, as Israel is not named as an enemy in his narrative.
- Third, the three nations that formed this alliance are among the main regional powers allied with the United States and do not have strategic military partnerships with major powers such as China and Russia.
- Fourth, this new regional coalition borders Iran on three sides: the west (Saudi Arabia), the east (Pakistan), and the north (Turkey). None of them share direct borders with the Israeli occupation state, and none have ever engaged in direct conflict with Israel.
- Fifth, direct reduction of American security burdens in the Middle East region.
- Sixth: Improving regional energy and trade supply linkages.
- Seventh, protect the infrastructure and oil facilities in Gulf countries that have been targeted by Iranian missile and drone assaults owing to the presence of American military bases on their territory.
- Eighth, broaden the scope of American arms sales and industries to the three countries that rely heavily on the United States for its armament and military equipment.
All eight of the factors described above, as well as others, could be to blame for the lack of membership expansion and the addition of other regional countries to this alliance up to the time of writing, despite the three countries’ major efforts in this respect.
It is too early to predict the success of this alliance, which its three member states are attempting to establish as a regional counterpart to NATO by adopting its most prominent articles, particularly Article 5, which states that any aggression against one of the member countries constitutes aggression against all three and requires them to respond immediately.
What is certain is that President Trump is unaware of, or is aware of but overlooks, the fact that this tripartite coalition, which comprises the three Sunni Islamic countries, arose as a result of the enormous American military power’s failure to destroy Iran and achieve its goals of declaring war on it. The most important of these objectives was to overthrow the regime, destroy its nuclear ambitions, confiscate all of its highly enriched uranium stockpiles, dismantle its highly advanced missile programme, limit its range to less than 200 kilometres, and cut off all financial and military supplies to the Resistance Axis.
Barack Obama, the former US president, was adept at describing his country’s losing war on Iran, saying in a tweet on his “X” account, “All this war and its exorbitant costs come to remove an existing nuclear bomb and stop the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which had been open for hundreds of years.”
Palestine and its Al-Aqsa Mosque will serve as the first true test of this new tripartite alliance, either directly or indirectly, followed by Iran. Will this coalition remain “neutral” as it watches the continued atrocities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as the invasions to Judaise Al-Aqsa Mosque? And will this new tripartite alliance rise above sectarian suspicion, forge bonds of brotherhood and friendship within the framework of a historic reconciliation with Iran, and spare the blood of Muslims, both Shia and Sunni, while putting the US and Israel at the top of the list of enemies destabilising the region’s security and stability?
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed hope for the formation of the alliance and its goals, stating that “Gaza will not be left alone anymore.”
Will we see a meaningful implementation of this declaration that leads to confronting the genocide carried out by “Israel” and sponsored by the US in the West Bank and Gaza Strip?
We hope so, even though our experiences over the last two years do not suggest so… God knows best.
