Has the US-Israeli dual assault against Iran ceased?
Who conceded and surrendered: Iran or the United States? How will Netanyahu, the architect of this conflict, react?
We find it difficult to take U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements seriously and trust their content, not because they are numerous and spread across multiple television and radio stations, as well as social media platforms, but because they are contradictory and lacking credibility. Trump appears to have forgotten that he is the president of a big country and is now acting like a journalist or media analyst, making statements without understanding his true identity.
Three days ago, President Trump said he would impose a tight military blockade on all Iranian ports starting from the day before yesterday, “Monday”, and would prevent any ship from entering the Strait of Hormuz. He also proposed punishing ships that pay fees to Iran in accordance with its latest directives. However, Iran acknowledged today that two of its oil tankers had entered the strait and docked at one of its ports.
The latest development today is the confirmation by host Maria Bartiromo, who interviewed the American president for his preferred right-wing channel “Fox,” that “the war with Iran is over, and there is intensive activity taking place today (Wednesday) and tomorrow Thursday focused on resuming negotiations, and the elements for reaching an agreement are fully available, but matters have not been completely settled.”
We’ve heard such statements, including from President Trump himself, numerous times without seeing any action taken, just as we’ve heard threats to uproot Iranian civilisation from its roots, open the gates of hell on Tehran, and completely change the current regime after assassinating all of its leaders.
We did not see the gates of hell or its windows, but we did see the Iranian regime at the peak of its strength and resilience, withdrawing from the last round of negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, which lasted no more than 21 hours, without making any concessions on the three issues on the table: stopping uranium enrichment; handing over approximately 460 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent or more, stored in an unknown underground location, and opening
When President Trump claims that the war against Iran is over, he indicates that an agreement was struck in the last two days, which could only have been done if one or both parties made considerable concessions. To our knowledge, this has never happened, and both parties, particularly the Iranian side, remain solid in their beliefs.
If Trump’s statements about the complete cessation of the war are accurate, as he told the “Fox Business” host, it means that he is the one who conceded his demands that thwarted more than two years of negotiations in Vienna, Muscat, and Geneva, which the Iranian side rejected. These demands included the complete and immediate cessation of enrichment and the handover of all quantities of highly enriched uranium in exchange for the immediate lifting of the blockade on Iran and the unfreezing of its billions in American banks.
We do not rule out this hypothesis, given the series of failures that the American government has experienced on both the diplomatic and military fronts since it, along with its Israeli ally, launched an aggression against Iran on February 28 of last year, which failed to achieve any of its goals, the most prominent of which were the final prevention of Iran developing nuclear weapons and regime change. According to news leaks, the Trump administration has conceded its demands to completely prevent Iranian enrichment, is no longer demanding the handover of 460 kilograms of highly enriched uranium, and is willing to negotiate the enrichment percentage rather than its complete prevention.
These potential American concessions follow military defeats on the ground, Iranian forces’ resilience in combat fields, and the downing of more than 20 highly advanced American aircraft, including fighter jets such as the stealth bomber “F-35” or “F-15” and the world’s most advanced AWACS.
And more importantly, the Iranian people rallied behind their leadership, and after 40 days, the war turned into a multi-front regional attritional war, resulting so far in the destruction of all American military bases in the Gulf and the Middle East, rendering them almost out of service. Furthermore, Iranian missiles and drones penetrated deep into Israeli territory in Greater Tel Aviv, Haifa, Acre, Dimona, and Safed, devastating entire neighbourhoods in the centres of the cities.
So, when President Trump begs his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping not to transfer modern weaponry to Iran, the writing is on the wall: America’s defeat is inevitable, and the Chinese-Russian-Iranian axis has won this war. We should expect more surprises in the coming days and weeks that will confirm this truth.
