Trump Assassination Attempt: The Story Behind the Story
The assassination attempt against Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, immediately became more than a shocking political event. It became an information war.
In this video, Whitney Webb examines what happens when a major political event unfolds before the public has a complete factual record — and how fear, emotion, social media, algorithms, and competing narratives can shape the way millions of people interpret the same event.
The FBI identified Thomas Matthew Crooks as the shooter and investigated the July 13, 2024 attack as an assassination attempt and potential domestic terrorism. At the time of its initial investigation, the FBI said it had not identified a motive. Later, the Bureau said it had found no credible evidence that Crooks conspired with anyone else or was directed by a foreign entity.
But this video goes beyond the security failures.
Whitney’s broader argument concerns the information environment surrounding events like Butler:
- Why do narratives appear faster than facts?
- How do social-media platforms divide audiences into competing interpretations?
- Can algorithms amplify fear, outrage, and tribal identity?
- What happens when millions of people receive completely different versions of the same political event?
- And how does emotional reaction influence political behavior before the evidence is fully established?
The central question isn’t simply what happened on the stage in Butler.
It’s what happens afterward — when the event becomes information, the information becomes narrative, and the narrative becomes political reality.
This video distinguishes documented facts from speculation and examines Whitney Webb’s broader argument about political violence, social media, algorithmic targeting, and the manufacture of public consent.
This video is commentary and analysis, not a claim that an unsupported conspiracy theory has been proven.

My theory is that Zionist entities orchestrated the assassination attempt, to provide more momentum for Trumps election. The supposed shooter, the kid on the roof might of been hypnotized.
……… It seems someone shot a few rounds from a water tower, killing and wounding people, to make it look like a real attempted assassination.
……… The ketchup on Trump’s ear, may have been placed there by one his of his handlers. There is a real possibility that the real shooter was suicide-ed outside a Los Vegas hotel. (The burning Tessla?)
……I can’t believe it was a real assassination attempt, however it might have been a warning to Trump to keep in line.
