More than a dozen Republican governors gathered in a public park that’s become the center of a standoff between Texas and the federal government over the control of the US-Mexico border. The far right is framing the standoff as a “states’ rights” issue and reignited the national conversation around Texas seceding from the United States.
Dr. Gerald Horne, a professor of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston and the author of many books, including “The Counter-Revolution of 1836: Texas Slavery & Jim Crow and the Roots of US Fascism” joins the show to discuss the historical roots of today’s crisis at the Texas border.
