Amid a wave in assassinations, state-led violent repression, and political persecution, the South African shack dwellers’ movement or Abahlali baseMjondolo (AbM) continue their struggle to secure land and housing for South Africa’s urban poor.

Thapelo Mohapi, General Secretary of AbM, joined the show from hiding, and explains the intensifying repression, the political dynamics in South Africa, and the movement as a whole.
