Case of Walid Daqqa Shows How Israel Tortures Thousands of Palestinian Political Prisoners

Walid Daqqa, a prominent Palestinian revolutionary organizer and thinker, and one of the longest-serving Palestinian political prisoners, died in an Israeli jail after spending 38 years imprisoned by the Israeli occupation. Diagnosed with cancer in 2022, Israel killed Daqqa through medical neglect, refusing to provide him with available medical treatment.

Basil Farraj, Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, Birzeit University, Palestine, delves into Daqqa’s pivotal role in the prisoners’ movement and sheds light on Israel’s systematic medical neglect, torture, and blatant disregard for the rights of over 10,000 Palestinians held hostage in Israeli prisons.
