On August 22nd-24th leaders of the BRICS nations will gather in South Africa for the bloc’s 15th annual summit.
The meeting is set to take up a range of major issues including a possible BRICS currency, how to respond to the 23 nations seeking membership in the group, a path to peace in Ukraine and reforms to United Nations governance.
Dr. Vijay Prashad, Director of the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research, joined The Freedom Side to discuss the state of the BRICS alliance, its current and potential role in the world and what challenges “multipolarity” presents.
