There is much about Zionism that the international community is ignoring

The ceasefire, which Israel violated multiple times since its implementation, is temporary, the founder and chairman of the Israel Defence and Security Forum Brigadier General Amir Avivi said in a recent interview. For two years, Israel maintained its narrative of disarming Hamas as the reason for its genocide in Gaza, yet Avivi speaks of Hamas in the present tense as if Israel did not even dent the resistance movement. Hence, according to the Israeli narrative, the need to resume the genocide in Gaza.

Referring to US President Donald Trump, Avivi said, “I think he won’t manage to dismantle Hamas diplomatically. So Israel is waiting and preparing for the moment when we’ll have to go in and finish the job.” The normalisation of genocide couldn’t be articulated clearer. In two years, Israeli officials are claiming that genocide didn’t “finish the job”, hence the need for more genocide, now as normalised international law violations. The background work has already been achieved in terms of Gaza’s destruction and international diplomatic agreement; the latter that Hamas should not be allowed a political role in Gaza and that the humanitarian paradigm rhetoric will take precedence over calling out Israel’s genocide.

However, Avivi made it clear that the world is not spared Israel’s violence. From Gaza to “degrading enemies across multiple fronts including Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Yemen,” Avivi referred to “the rise of antisemitism around the world and also in the US,” stating that “Israel needs to prepare for massive aliyah.” Citing statistics that show only 2 per cent of Israel’s population is concerned with antisemitism, as opposed to economic hardships and security, Avivi said Israeli politicians should not prioritise the daily concerns of Israelis. Israel, he said, “needs to take much more seriously the issue of defending Jewish communities around the world.” Zohran Mamdani’s election as Mayor, he added, indicates the rise of global antisemitism.

Genocide, therefore, is serving multiple fronts and Palestinians are paying the price for Israel’s conflation of anti-Zionism with antisemitism. But Avivi’s comments indicate a broader view that world leaders are not addressing, despite Israel having already shown that it will not respect sovereign borders.

The targeted assassinations in various countries around the world are perhaps the most prominent. In 2024, Israel stepped in to defend Maccabi Tel Aviv hooligans inciting genocide against Palestinians in Amsterdam. “The IDF has an historic duty of protecting our people, wherever they are. We are preparing to deploy a mission to rescue Israelis from Amsterdam,” a post on X by the IDF’s spokesperson read. The mission was later called off. Former Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen recently bragged about Israel’s global espionage “in all the countries that you can imagine.”

With each effort to prioritise Israel’s impunity, the world should pay attention to what it will ultimately unleash, and the only way Zionist global violence can be halted is by making Palestine centre-stage. Israel is already demonstrating that Zionism will not be contained. Palestine and Palestinians hold more than enough testimony, to the point of a genocide that is still largely ignored by most Western leaders. The international community is compartmentalising Gaza, allowing genocide and accommodating impunity in violating territorial sovereignty.
