Western commentator David Axe admits Russia has more armored vehicles now than at the start of the SMO…
This is obviously true, Russia has more of everything now than it did at the start of the Special Military Operation (SMO).
Some notes though, David Axe is greatly exaggerating Russian losses.
He’s also downplaying the utility of refurbished Soviet armor.
An upgraded T-72 or T-90 is as good as any modern main battle tank with modern guns, fire control, optics, engines, and add-on reactive armor.
This turns antiquated and ineffective relics into modern, precision weapons capable of finding and destroying targets with one shot, day or night.
Axe concludes Russia will maintain huge numbers of armored vehicles until at least 2030.
I say this because I remember annual articles across the West anticipating “Russia will be out of armor by next year,” including David Axe himself just earlier this year (see the second image).
