US media claims “he agreed to a U.S. demand that he not allow terrorist groups in Syria to pose a threat to the United States or Syria’s neighbors.”
In reality HTS is still a terrorist organization right now committing terrorism all across Syria.
The US had all along been arming & funding the organization even as both it & its “leader” were listed/wanted as terrorists.
This is what 1000s of US’ armed forces died for in the so-called “War on Terrorism” stretching 20 years – to use terrorism as a pretext to invade and occupy while also using the very same terrorism as a proxy to depose governments the US could not directly depose.
This has continued regardless of who is president including under Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden and will continue as Trump takes office again.
This is one of many reasons the US poses the greatest threat to global peace & stability.
