Ukraine’s Black Sea “Victory” Up in Smoke

▪️West proclaimed for months Ukraine’s “victory” in the Black Sea/restoration of Ukrainian shipping – but was Russia’s political choice to allow shipping to continue;

▪️Recent Russian missile strikes on maritime vessels demonstrate Russia’s ability to disrupt shipping at any time of its choosing;

▪️Russia reserves a wide variety of options to manage escalation and maintain leverage versus the US-NATO – knowing that disrupting Black Sea shipping was one of these reserved options, the collective West exploited Russia’s decision to allow Black Sea shipping to build its Black Sea “victory” narrative;

▪️Like so many other Western narratives surrounding Ukraine, it was only a matter of time before the Black Sea “victory” narrative collapsed as well;
