Germany is preparing a 400 billion euro fund for defense, including for support of Ukraine;
Media is citing the recent Trump-Zelensky drama as impetus for the decision;
The actual impetus is a US dictate Europe take over the US proxy war in Ukraine while the US pivots to Asia to confront China in the exact same type of conflict it provoked with Russia over Ukraine in the first place;
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on February 12 establishing “a division of labor that maximizes our comparative advantages in Europe and Pacific respectively,” not any sort of peace plan for Ukraine or with Russia;
This is precisely what is now taking shape across the European Union and each individual member state, with the recent drama in the White House helping European leaders sell to the public the unpopular prospect of spending more on military at the expense of social programs;
