Wounded Hezbollah is winning
Despite all the death and destruction, Israel is on the back foot in Lebanon
On Saturday, Israel Radio announced that the army is close to completing the first stage of its mission in Lebanon after two months and hinted it may soon withdraw, while Hezbollah fighters pounded strategic military sites and occupied Palestinian towns in Galilee with 80 missile salvoes.
That signifies two things:
First, an admission of defeat on the Lebanon front due to the ferocity of the resistance , both along the border and across it, despite the savagery of Israel’s merciless bombardment of the country.
Second, a growing dispute between the military establishment and Benjamin Netanyahu’s government because of the mounting casualties and security, economic and military losses being sustained. The generals are pressing for a quick end to the war and a search for political solutions. Netanyahu doesn’t want neither because he knows stopping fighting in Lebanon and Gaza would mean his end.
Hezbollah’s new military command has stepped up military operations against the occupation in recent days, achieving major successes on all fronts. This escalation comes with the approach of the US presidential elections and Iranian leader Ali Khamenei’s pledge of a painful response to the attacks launched by Israel and its US ally against Iran and allied groups in the Axis of Resistance. That response is expected to come after those elections.
A quick tally of Israel’s military losses since it began its ground operation in Lebanon a month ago, based on the latest information from Hezbollah’s operations room, includes the following:
— Israeli military casualties exceed 100 killed and 900 injured, many seriously.
— Around 50 tanks, troop carriers, and bulldozers destroyed.
— Missile strikes against key targets including Netanyahu’s bedroom in Caesarea, the Golani Brigade base in Binyamin killing or injuring 70 personnel, and the Galiot HQ of the Unit 8200 and Mossad intelligence agencies near Tel Aviv.
— 170 ‘suicide’ drones launched against targets in the Israeli interior, most of which evaded interception by Israeli air defences.
— The failure of invading Israeli forces to penetrate beyond the immediate border area or take control of nearby towns or villages, due to the resistance’s steadfastness and preparedness to repel attempted incursions.
— Extension of the scope of missile strikes from purely military to economic targets, such as last Thursday’s attack which killed seven ‘civilians’ including four Thai labourers.
Hezbollah’s fighters have succeeded in foiling the military plans of Israel’s generals while instilling fear among the public. Never have so many air raid sirens been sounded daily in so many places in northern occupied Palestine and Galilee and Tel Aviv. The signs are that Hezbollah is in a position to reach any Israeli target it chooses with its drones and missiles.
Hezbollah and its political and military structures quickly overcame the crisis of the pager attacks and assassinations of its leaders. All the leadership vacancies have been filled, with young commanders joining the veterans.
Moreover, they have not retreated a single millimetre from the legacy of the martyred Hassan Nasrallah, or from carrying out his will as expressed in his last speech: above all else, to maintain the unity of fronts and never abandon the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
That testament brought forward Nasrallah’s assassination.
His successor Naim Qasem’s loyalty to it and promise to execute it, and his refusal to disengage Lebanon from Gaza as demanded by a Lebanese fifth column, is likely awhat prompted Israeli war minister Yoav Gallant to threaten to kill him too, in a tweet describing his appointment as Hezbollah leader as ‘not for long’.
But it is Israel and its criminal enterprise whose days are numbered. The wars of annihilation it is waging against Gaza and Lebanon are not a sign of strength but a last gasp of delirious recklessness. What comes after Tuesday’s US elections may differ from what came before.
HEZBOLLHAMAS
Thank you for this article. If the genocidal gang of criminals are going to retreat soon it’s not because they achieved any goal in Lebanon, except if the goal was to kill a planned number of babies, children and women. In this department, they certainly equal the biggest mass murderers like Polpot, Mao or Stalin.
However, as they are cunning sociopaths, it could very well be that their goal was to distract attention from Gaza and the West Bank while perpetrating their ethnic cleansing.
It is also known that one of their main goal was to push the US to war against Iran.
The recent announcement that the US were sending more troops, ships and b52 bombers in the region might be an indication that as soon as elections are finished (whoever the zionists install in power), promises might have been made in this direction.
The Resistance should stay very awake in the coming days in all conflict zones, from Iran to Palestine and Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
Iran should retaliate but it should and it will have the wisdom to do it with the perfect timing. And it is also time for Iran, and Russia could be of help, to finally acquire nuclear weapons to once and for all deter the zionists wet dreams of transforming Iran into another Iraq.
The world, including the vast majority of Americans and Europeans is waiting for the Resistance victory and “israel” utter defeat.
