Who is Israel to close its Jerusalem consulate to repay Britain’s “favour”?

Israeli officials’ recent attacks on Britain and its new Labour administration are the pinnacle of bullying, rudeness, and arrogance. They act as if Britain is an Israeli colony, rather than a great power that played a historical role in establishing their state (Israel) and welcoming hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees from the Holocaust in the occupied Palestinian territories, as part of the infamous Balfour Declaration. It represents the apex of “ingratitude” and betrayal, a poisoned dagger in the backs of those who supported, built, and stood with them.

Yes, Israel has been and continues to dominate Great Britain through its deeply embedded Zionist lobbies in the British state and society for over 70 years, controlling the media, the Foreign Office, and the majority of the main state institutions. It never anticipated the British government acknowledging the error and striving to correct it, even with very basic first measures.

We recognise British Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s courageous decision, together with 11 European countries and Canada, to prohibit trade with Israeli settlements and to impose sanctions on the settlements and settlers. The irony is that Israeli President Isaac Herzog and his Foreign Minister Gidon Sa’ar regard the British-European decision to impose sanctions on settlements and terrorist settlers as flagrant meddling in Israeli democracy. The question is, which democracy are they discussing? Is it democracy to exterminate 73,669 people to date, half of whom are women and children, to destroy 95 per cent of homes and hospitals in the sector, to starve and dehydrate citizens to death, to prevent the entry of most medicines and essential medical supplies, and to continue the serious threat of displacing two million people from the sector to areas that Smotrich and Ben Gvir openly consider “Somalia” and the jungles of Africa through threats and financial inducement?

Who is this Israel that threatens Britain, closes its consulate in occupied Jerusalem, expels diplomats, and may soon close its embassy and the embassies of the 12 European nations that signed the joint declaration imposing penalties on its settlers?

It’s ironic that Mike Huckabee, the American ambassador in occupied Jerusalem, joined the campaign against Britain, France, Spain, and Canada for imposing sanctions on terrorist settlers. He accused Ed Miliband, the British Foreign Secretary, of being “anti-Jewish” or anti-Semitic, even though this uneducated fascist, who is very close to Donald Trump, is of Jewish faith. However, he distances himself from the crimes and massacres of the Zionist movement in occupied Palestine and the region because he recognises that they constitute the greatest threat not only to Jews but to humanity as a whole, and he aligns himself with his conscience.

In conclusion, we tell Andy Burnham, the British Prime Minister, and all of the signatories to the joint European declaration that placing sanctions on Israeli settlers is a welcome move, but it is tiny, secondary, and symbolic. The ban should extend to the entire State of Israel, its economy, and the racist, terrorist culture that these settlers embrace with the aid of the state that funds and protects them. It is worth noting that the Middle East is rapidly changing, and America, the leader of the “free world,” was defeated in the Iranian war and is seriously considering retreating from the entire region in recognition of its failure and to minimise costs.
