Analyzing Reports of Food Shortages onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln

▪️It is impossible to tell the scale of logistical shortages including food on the USS Abraham Lincoln by claims and photos online – the issue is most likely a lack of fresh food – leaving only canned goods, UHT milk etc.;

▪️Carriers receive additional supplies like ammo/food through ship to ship replenishment at sea (RAS);

▪️RAS for fresh food requires ports close enough for the supply ships to load up and reach the carrier before it spoils – fresh food shortages indicate local ports no longer can support RAS (because Iran took them out of operation) ;

▪️This is carrier specific – smaller ships have smaller crews/requirements & more opportunities to rotate in and out of safer ports beyond the region;

▪️Rotating carriers doesn’t fix the problem, just resets the clock for how long the crew can function under/tolerate these conditions;

By the way, this is another reason the US playacts diplomacy with Iran – to alleviate these various bottlenecks in arms/ammunition and logistics – so they can reset and restart hostilities again – NOT genuinely end them.
