Le Saoudien Oussama Ben Laden et son médecin personnel, l’Égyptien Ayman al-Zawahiri, publient en 1998 le « Le Front islamique mondial contre les juifs et les croisés ». Ce texte est diffusé par leur bureau au Londonistan, l’Advice and Reformation Committee. Al-Zawahiri organisa l’assassinat du président Sadate, puis travailla pour les services secrets soudanais d’Hassan el-Tourabi et Omar el-Bechir. Il dirige désormais Al-Qaïda.
